Board says Fed Bus ruling coming soon

"As soon as possible" was when transport board chair Gary Stanley said they would make a ruling on the licence application for Fed Bus.

The two-day hearing ended today. Over those days the board heard evidence and arguments over whether to grant STC a licence to operate Fed Bus with Federation of Students as a ticket agent.

Greyhound Canada opposed the application and has offered its own service which would start this September.

The May ruling from the Ontario Highway Transport Board gave a deadline for Student Transportation Canada to cease operating without a licence of 31 July 2006, in six days. That ruling also said that the board normally makes rulings within two weeks.

If the board meets the two-week deadline then the ruling would arrive the Tuesday after the August long weekend.

For the Greyhound's complaint against STC and Fed Bus, the hearing was 30 March and the ruling came 3 May, which was 5 weeks. It was delayed because they were waiting for information from Feds' lawyer. I didn't see any indication at the hearing that they would need extra information.
