Former Waterloo student and co-founder of RIM, Mike Lazaridis is receiving the Order of Ontario.

Lieutenant Governor James K. Bartleman announced the 29 appointees yesterday.

The announcement referred to "Dr. Mike Lazaridis." Lazaridis left school in his final term of electrical engineering in 1984. He was given an honorary DEng degree in 2000.

Lazaridis donated the money to found the Perimeter Institue. He and his wife Ophelia also donated to the Inttitute for Quantum Computing.
